Letter
from Jeff Cogan
President,
Orange Country Guitar Circle
28 August
2010
Hello, Friends of the Orange County Guitar Circle,
At the annual meeting of the OCGC Board of Directors on
August 22nd, the following policy changes were decided:
(1) All membership fees will be increased by $5,
effective on Jan 1, 2011.
The new fees will be $20 for a Senior/Student member, $25
for an Individual member, and $35 for a Family member. We
have not increased our fees for over ten years despite
rising costs, especially for professional artists.
(2) The admission price for a non-member to attend a
Featured Artist Recital (professional guest artist) will
be $10, effective on Jan 1, 2011 ($3 increase).
(3) As of Jan 1, 2011, all Showcase Recital performers
will have to be member of the OCGC. Performers at our
Showcases have always been required to be either OCGC
members or students of guitar teachers who were members,
the Board simply dropped the second option.
Due to a variety of circumstances, the Board has recently
lost three of its members (Sharan Sachs, John Phillips
and Richard Glenn). Vasil Chekardshikov has volunteered
to become a Board member. Vasil has performed several
times for the OCGC and teaches guitar at the Orange
County High School of the Arts. At the OCGC monthly
meeting on Sep 18th, the general membership will have the
opportunity to accept him (by vote) as a Board member. we
are still in need of at least one additional new board
member.
Although the idea of an increase in OCGC fees is not
something for members to celebrate, I am confident that
the increase will have a very positive impact on our long
range financial health.
Thank you for understanding our decision on this.
I hope to see you on Sep 18th,
Jeff Cogan
