Three events this weekend starting at Friday noon with the lovely AlmaNova flute/guitar duo offering a free recital by videostream. . Then on Saturday evening the American Guitar Society has its monthly meeting, a members' recital also free and available by Zoom, and on Sunday afternoon at the Barclay Theater in Irvine Miloŝ Karadaglić will present a live-only concert tribute to Segovia. I just found out about several events this weekend...on Friday evening in LA the always-astonishing Romeros are performing as part of their 60th anniversary world tour, and are offering a Master Class in Santa Monica the next day (there is an Auditor's fee). On Saturday evening Bokyung Byun (the 2021 GFA Competition winner) appears in recital at Cal State Northridge as part of their Guitar Artist Series, and on Sunday the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony offers a concert featuring guitarist Jordan Charnofsky. I just learned of another classical guitar youth competition (ages 8-18) offered by the Latino Arts Strings Program, they're located in Milwaukee but the competition is by video submission only with an application deadline of February 1 in just a couple of weeks. There are two online performances coming up this weekend, on Saturday evening is the video premiere of an earlier concert by Eliot Fisk at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in San Francisco, and on Sunday the videostream of a recital by Bill Kanengiser from St. James Episcopal Church in Los Angeles. They should both be stellar events!
