The OCGC meets at 8:00 PM every 3rd Saturday at Chapman University from September to June, except in December when we are dark.
All concerts are free to members. The cost for non-members is $10 for a Showcase concert, and $20 for a Featured Artist concert, payable at the door.

Featured Artist Series

Lovro Peretić is an internationally award-winning classical guitarist from Zagreb (Croatia). He has performed concerts all around Croatia and in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Russia, Poland, Spain, Finland, Estonia, Italy, France, Austria, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Hungary and Greece as a soloist and a chamber musician. He has performed and given masterclasses in many of the world’s most prestigious guitar festivals and music concert series’, including Paris International Guitar Festival, London International Guitar Festival, Music Festival “Vladimir Spivakov” in Moscow, Zagreb Guitar Festival, Antwerp International Guitar Festival, José Tomás Villa de Petrer International Guitar Festival and many more.

Last year, he won the International Concert Artist competition of the Guitar Foundation of America (USA). As the winner, he will depart on an extensive concert tour, playing around 50 concerts throughout USA and Canada in 2023/2024 concert season, and performing at the GFA 50th Anniversary Convention at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City this June.

Also, he recorded his debut album for the Naxos Records, the world’s leading classical music label, which was released in June 2023. In 2020, Lovro won the 3rd Eurostrings competition, arguably the biggest competition for guitar in Europe, which brought him an opportunity to give numerous concerts and master classes in 18 European countries.

As well as his solo performance career, he regularly performs in various chamber music groups among which the most significant one is guitar trio Evocación, with whom they recently released their first album named Evocación in 2020, though the Italian publishing label Dotguitar. As a soloist, he played with the Symphony orchestra of Croatian radio television, Dubrovnik and Zagreb symphony orchestras, to name a few.

He has won over 30 prizes in international competitions, including first place in the International Concert Artist competition of GFA (USA), Eurostrings guitar.

Born in Novosibirsk, Russia and raised in Israel. Classical guitarist Yuri Liberzon has been recognized for his impressive technical ability and musicality. Based on his achievements in the music field United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has granted Yuri Liberzon ‘Alien of Extraordinary Ability’ United States Permanent Residency.

Mr. Liberzon has given countless number of concerts across the United States. Notable concerts venues include: 92nd Street Y in New York, Florida State University, Oregon State University, Santa Clara University, Marlow Guitar Series in Maryland, Murov Music College in Novosibirsk, Russia; Legion of Honor in San Francisco, Lesher Center in Walnut Creek, and many guitar societies. Mr. Liberzon has collaborated and performed in concerts with many renown musicians including guitarists Grisha Goryachev, Patrick O’Connell, Piotr Pakhomkin and flutist Josué Casillas. Orchestra performances with Diablo Symphony Orchestra and Tahoe Symphony Orchestra. Chamber music with Gold Coast Chamber Players, Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra and Quartet San Francisco.

Media appearances include: Capital Public Radio of Sacramento, Classical Guitar Magazine, Kol HaMusica (National Classical Music Radio Station of the Israel Broadcasting Authority), KUHF (NPR Houston), KUSF San Francisco, San Francisco Chronicle, Soundboard Magazine and WDR German Television Network.

Mr. Liberzon has released three albums in collaboration with Grammy winning sound engineer and producer Nahuel Bronzini: ‘Ascension’, 2015; ‘¡Acentuado!’ (Soundset Recordings), 2017 and ‘3 Violin Sonatas by J.S. Bach’, 2020 (Laudable Records). In August 2022, Yuri will release an album of music by Konstantin Vassiliev on the under guitar worksseries of the Naxos label. This will be 70 minutes of music including world premieres commissioned by Mr. Liberzon.

Mr. Liberzon has transcribed music of Domenico Scarlatti and Johann Sebastian Bach for guitar. His transcriptions have been published in SoundBoard magazine and are distributed in Europe by Bergmann Edition.

Mr. Liberzon is an avid teacher. He has prepared students admitted into some of the most prestigious music schools: Juilliard Pre-College, Peabody Conservatory and San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Mr. Liberzon has been a judge at numerous music competitions such as Beatty Classical Guitar Competition, Junior Bach Festival, Sierra Nevada Classical Guitar Competition and San Francisco Conservatory of Music Concerto Competition. He has given masterclasses at Florida State University, Katy Guitar Guild, Murov Music College in Novosibirsk, Russia and Portland State University.

While in Israel, Mr. Liberzon studied with Maestro Yaron Hasson for 6 years. During that period Mr. Liberzon has been a multiple time recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarships and grants. In year 2000, Mr. Liberzon came to the United States to study at the Peabody Conservatory with world renown guitarist Manuel Barrueco. Mr. Liberzon has received Bachelor of Music degree and Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Conservatory as well as Master of Music degree from Yale University. He was awarded full scholarships from both Peabody and Yale where he studied with two of the world leading guitar masters: Manuel Barrueco and Benjamin Verdery.

Eric Wang is a freshman at Stanford University. He started classical guitar at age 4 and studied with Robert Miller at the California Conservatory of Music. He currently studies with Professor Meng Su at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and is also a freshman at Stanford University studying physics and music.

Eric is the 1st prize winner of many guitar competitions including the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America Guitar
Competition International Youth
Competition (2018, Youth Junior Division and 2020, Youth Senior Division) and Parkening International Guitar Competition (2019 Youth Division). He was featured on NPR’s From the Top in April of 2019. He was also named a 2020 National YoungArts Finalist, receiving the distinction of semifinalist in the 2022 Presidential Scholar in the Arts award. Recently, he competed in the 2023 GFA International Concert Artist Competition, making the semifinal round.

Eric has had masterclasses with many distinguished guitarists including Eliot Fisk, Manuel Barrueco, David Russell, Zoran Dukic, Benjamin Verdery, the Eden-Stell Guitar Duo, Nicholas Goluses, Marcus Tardelli, Ian O’Sullivan, the Montenegrian Guitar Duo, and Judicael Perroy.

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in April 2000, Leonela formally began her musical education when she was seven years old. During her first years, she studied with various Puerto Rican teachers including Jomel Rivera, Julio Reyes, and Rey Nieves. She later became a student of Maestro Iván Rijos at the Escuela Libre de Música de San Juan and then at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico, where she completed the first two years of her undergraduate studies. In 2018, Leonela transferred to the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee to complete her Bachelor’s degree with Professor René Izquierdo. Leonela has received prizes in various level categories at festivals including Chicago Guitar Festival & Competition, Columbus Guitar Symposium, Southern Guitar Festival, Troy University Guitar Festival, José Tomás Villa de Petrer Guitar Festival, the Josefina P. Tuason International Guitar Competition, Louisville Guitar Festival & Competition, Florida Guitar Festival, Appalachian State Guitar Festival, the Iserlohn International Guitar Competition, and the Ciudad de Coria International Festival.Leonela recently completed her graduate studies in Columbus, Georgia, where she worked with Dr. Andrew Zohn at CSU’s Schwob School of Music. Leonela is an Augustine Strings Ambassador.
